Students participate in 53rd Annual Athletic Meet at KCW, Ludhiana on Wednesday.

Ludhiana, February 12, 2014: Along with education, games play a cardinal role in life. Acknowledging this importance, Khalsa College for Women, Ludhiana inaugurated the two day Annual Athletic Meet on Wednesday. Highly talented, an embodiment of sincerity and dedication Balbir Singh Grewal (Hockey Olympian) graced the occasion with his auspicious presence. He was accorded a warm welcome by Principal Dr Varinder Kaur Thind, the college managing committee which included Pritpal Singh Grewal (President, KCW), Dr. S.S. Grewal (Vice President KCW), Sarbarinder Kaur Grewal (Manager, KCW), Dr. Vijay Asdhir (Director of KIMT) entire staff and the students at his arrival in the college premises.
The meet began with the march past where in the students pursuing graduate and post graduate courses participated. The guest for the occasion by taking the salute of the march past and hoisting the flag, announced the opening of the Athletic Meet. Balloons of diverse hues were let off in the air. The spectators were captivated by the colorful balloons floating in the air and sound of crackers. An oath for disciplined and earnest display of games was also administered by the students. The Chief Guest enthused the young girls with his words of wisdom. He put emphasis on efforts require to win by saying that dedication and hard work are the key ingredients of success. G.R.Vig the president of Yog Aur Sewa Parivaar Ludhiana motivated the students by giving away the scholarships.
There was a unique display of stamina, competitive spirit and definiteness as participants strove to prove their best in manifold sports events like 50 meter race, Spoon Potato Race, Javelin Throw, Sack Race, Discuss Throw, Shot Put, High Jump, long Jump, Relay Race etc. The winning spree in the realm of sports continued and various sports teams of the college brought accolades.
Towards the culmination of the day Madam Principal Dr. Varinder Kaur Thind, Staff members and the council members sent a clean message of sportsmanship and enthusiasm through a rally which emphasised the importance of strength, equality, unity and discipline in sports in specific and life in general.
