KOHAR directs to DTOs to collect taxes with sincerely

Chandigarh, June 18, 2013: While showing the satisfaction about the collection of taxes compared to the last financial year 2012, the Punjab Transport Minister Ajit Singh Kohar has directed to the district transport officers to work with utmost sincerity and dedication for the collection of taxes so that fixed target should be achieved.

Presiding over the meeting of district transport officers at Punjab Bhawan here today, Kohar asked the DTOs to activate the entire machinery to ensure the collection of all the taxes including tax fee, fines, challans ect. It was informed in the meeting that in the first two months of current financial year tax collection reached to 19135.83 lacs. compare to 15491.68 lacs of same period of last financial year 2012.

While showing satisfaction over the increase of 24% in the tax collection Kohar asked the officers to improve their performance so that all the taxes should be collected accordingly.  

Ajit Singh Kohar has asked the DTOs to insure the checking of all the school buses and to implement road safety rules strictly for ensuring the safety of school children. He also suggested school managements should carefully select the bus drivers after thorough verification of their driving experience besides vital documents like bus permit and Registration. He said that anyone flouting these norms would be liable to face severe departmental action. He directed to the officers to implement these rules strictly.

He also asked the DTOs to initiate strictest possible action against the trucks/ trolleys over loaded with chaff and sugarcane. He directed the transport department to curb the illegal practice of transporting passengers in trucks and other commercial vehicles. He also instructed the transport department to take harsh action against the drivers of trolleys loaded with sand within the cities from 9 am to 7 pm.

Prominent amongst other who were present in the meeting including Principal Secretary Transport Jagpal Singh, State Transport Commissioner Mr. Harjeet Singh, Director Transport Sumedh Singh Gurjar, additional transport commissioner Harmel Singh and all the DTOs.
