About Shingora
Shingora is the result of the vision of a high school teacher, Mridula Jain, almost 3 decades ago, to create a product and a brand every fashion-conscious woman would be proud to adorn herself with.
She has since then been ably assisted by her elder son, Amit Jain, who after his education and subsequent work experience abroad, joined as product development head. He single-handedly set up a modern weaving, dyeing and printing facility from the family handloom shawl business to a technology and system driven modern enterprise.
Shingora is a pioneer in the shawl industry from the start: CAD systems, shuttle-less looms; electronic jacquards, moving carriage printing machines; continuous washing and finishing lines; fully automatic color kitchen for both dyeing and printing, fully automatic color and chemical dispensing systems and SAP ERP solution were all first of their kind work systems set up in house.
Shingora, today, is a manufacturer brand that mixes Indian design and color sensibility with the avant-garde fashions of the west. The product line includes Shawls and Scarves for women, men and girls. The product offering encompasses the range between the premiums to the luxury end of the fashion business.
Shingora as a brand not only sells in India but also is present in Germany; Holland; Switzerland and Japan.
Apart from the brand Shingora, the company is a premium producer for luxury brands and private labels such as Armani, Polo Ralph Lauren and Paul Smith etc.
At Shingora the endeavor is to be Creative, Enthusiastic and Committed.
A highly motivated team of industry professionals ensures that the vision forms the core of all Shingora’s products and services ably supports this vision.
As a responsible organisation, Shingora firmly believe that social and environmental accountability is of utmost importance to nurture a positive work culture and sustainable growth. For this, the Shingora family has created a foundation which is funded through every piece of scarf and shawls it sells.
As a family, Shingora strongly feel to support:
Environment
• Zero discharge into the river systems
• Recycling treated water for agriculture and horticulture
• Use of probiotic based detergents that aid in reducing the toxic load of effluents
• OKEO TEX 100 Certification (an independent testing and certification system for textile products from all stages of production (fibers, yarns, fabrics, ready-to-use end products, including accessories) along the textile value chain.
Social Responsibility
• SA 8000 Certification (standard that encourages organizations to develop, maintain, and apply socially acceptable practices in the workplace
• Employment for Women - our endeavor to provide employment to women is to enable them to become financially independent, thus create respectability for them within their families. We have a high percentage of women in the workforce (higher than the industry average).
Philanthropy
• Education of the underprivileged girl child - Having a girl child is considered a liability in India as it is thought that a girl cannot support her parents in their old age; thus sex ratio is also skewed against girls. We at Shingora strongly believe that a woman is the backbone of every family thus an educated girl will be empowered to make the right decisions for her and her future generations. The Shingora foundation will help finance the education for the girl child.
About The Woolmark Company
The Woolmark is the world’s best-known textile fibre brand, established in 1964.
Australian Wool Innovation (AWI), a not-for-profit company owned by more than 27,000 woolgrowers, owns the Woolmark brand. AWI’s vision is to be a significant contributor to a vibrant, stable and profitable wool industry providing the world with the best natural fibre. The company works throughout the global supply chain – from woolgrowers through to retailers.
The company mission is to enhance the profitability, international competitiveness and sustainability of the Australian wool industry; and increase demand and market access for Australian wool.
Merino wool provides stability, resilience, softness and luxury to the tailoring industry. The fibre has long been a favourite of designers, but younger consumers, born in an era of ‘disposable’ fashion know too little about the natural benefits.
Wool is a 100 per cent natural and renewable fibre. Sheep live on grass, water, fresh air and sunshine. Wool is a fibre that is grown – not man-made. Every year sheep produce a new fleece; making wool a renewable fibre source.
