Jalandhar, April 28, 2013: In Jalandhar, Lok Adalats were organised by the Legal Services Authority, Punjab, at Jalandhar, Nakodar and Phillaur on Saturday.
While addressing the litigants the District and Sessions Judge, Jalandhar J. S. Kalar stressed the need for taking advantage of the concept of Lok Adalat, in which the cases are being settled by way of mutual understanding out of the Court. He said after the cases settled in Lok Adalat both the applicant and respondents go with a smiling face and to avoid further multiplicity of any cases in future. He said most useful point in getting matters settled in Lok Adalats is that there is no appeal and the decision for both the parties is final.
As many as seven Benches were set up at Jalandhar at the Judicial complex here. Two benches were set up at Phillaur and one at Nakodar.
During the process a total of Rs 2 crore compensation were disbursed.
