Jalandhar, March 31, 2013: Mahanagar Sangharsh Committee (MSC) is still continuing protests in many markets in the city inspite of being given assurance by the Chief Parliamentary Secretary and K. D. Bhandari MLA North to co-operate, a few days ago.
Area markets near SD College road, Mohalla Gobindgarh, 40 quarters' Arjun Nagar and old Jawahar Nagar continues to be closed for three hours daily from 9 am. The agitated shopkeepers also blocked traffic.
The SD College Road market Association also observed a token strike, protest march and dharna near Madan Floor Mill, led by Sudesh Dhawan and Daljit Billa against the property tax.
Ramanjit Singh Saikki, MLA from Khadoor Sahib, BJP Councillor Arjun Pappi, former congress councillor Rajinder Beri and Sudesh Vij, president of the District Congress Committee (urban) were among those in the protest.
While speaking to the media persons Vij lashed out at the C.M Punjab. He alleged, " The Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal led SAD-BJP Government was nothing but befooling general public at large with respect to constituting a review committee in the light of imposition of Property Tax”.
