Ludhiana, June 13, 2014: The World Blood Donor’s Day is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Karl Landsteiner, Father of Immunohaematology. Karl Landsteiner was born in Vienna on June 14, 1868. He discovered ABO blood group in the year 1900 and was awarded the distinguished Noble Prize in 1930.
To mark the importance of day, the department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion, DMC & Hospital organized a seminar on the importance of blood donation. The seminar was attended by public and as well as hospital staff. Dr. Rajesh Kumar urged the people to extend their cooperation towards the noble cause and help to the blood requirement for thalassemic, oncology who have to undergo blood transfusion every fortnightly for their survival.
