Ludhiana, February 23, 2013: Noted writer, composer, director and actor Shekhar Sen interacted with the media persons here on Saturday evening.
He was here to stage the musical play “Kabeer”, organised by Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam (LSS), at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, Ludhiana. The play depicts the life of Kabeer, perhaps India’s greatest ever saint, philosopher and poet.
He said this kind of plays required a lot of time for rehearsal because one had to play the role of more than one characters on the stage.
He said generally, artists perform on theatre to pave their way for Bollywood. But, the artists must also adopt theatre as a career.
He also briefed about “kabeer”. He said with 45 songs sequences, the two-hour play brings this revolutionary social reformer back to life.
It may be mentioned here that “Kabeer” has been conceived, written, composed, directed and acted by Shekhar Sen.
Shekhar Sen has performed more than 1,200 singing concerts all over the world, and has released more than 200 cassettes and CDs as a singer, composer and lyricist. He has also composed the musical score for many television serials; he is, of course, best remembered for his playback score in Ramayan serial.
