Chandigarh, April 19, 2014: The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today described as "shameful and  shocking in the extreme"  the clean chit given by Captain Amarinder Singh to Jagdish Tytler, one of the prime accused in  the massacre of Sikhs in November 1984.
Badal asked Captain Singh to go and face the hapless families of the gruesome tragedy and tell them that their killers are innocent. "Even your children and grandchildren will be ashamed of what you did today and all the coming generations of your house will never be able to forgive you for this. Only you know the reasons behind this historic betrayal of an innocent and  wronged community,"   Badal told Captain Singh.
"Today, Amarinder has chosen to stand with those who tortured and killed innocent Sikh children, murdered helpless elderly Sikhs by putting burning tyres around their necks and disgraced Sikh women. That such a man has been drafted to represent the Congress party in the holiest land of the Sikhs, Amritsar, is something that will shock everyone in the world. About ten days ago, Amarinder had given a clean chit to Indira Gandhi for the army assault on Darbar Sahib by calling her White Paper sacrosanct. Today, he has given a clean chit to Jagdish Tytler. No one will be surprised if tomorrow he gives a clean chit to Ahmad  Shah Abdali also. After all, the Patiala Royal House had hosted Ahmed Shah Abdali immediately after he had demolished Sri Akal Takhat Sahib. Where  will he stop," said Badal in a statement here.
Badal said, "Captain Amarinder Singh has humiliated the departed souls and the families of thousands of innocents  who were brutally butchered by Congress goons on the streets of the national capital  in November 1984. Only Amarinder and his conscience can explain what were his compulsions in betraying the Sikh community in such a shocking manner   on  an  issue which reminded the community of the horror of the times of Ahmad Shah Abdali," said Badal. He said that  everyone in the world would be shocked to know that Capt Singh had come out so openly in support of a person widely believed to have led known killers of Sikhs men, women and children on the streets of the national capital ! "Even the Congress party felt forced to deny a ticket to Tytler because of his role in the 84 massacre. But Amarinder shamelessly declares that Tyler had no role in the massacre of Sikhs. Shock and utter disbelief is what I felt when I was told about this disgraceful act," said the Chief Minster in a statement.
