Jalandhar, April 11, 2014: In country even today bicycle is the one of the major mode of transport, approximately 40 crore bicycles are on Indian roads and 80% of all bicycles have their rear reflector broken which makes them almost invisible at night. On the guidelines of International Road Safety Organisation, CT Group of Institutions campaign in association with Jalandhar Traffic Police pasted reflective stickers on the rear mudguard of bicycles so that during night cyclists become visible to other vehicles on the road.

This campaign was to make people aware about road safety and paste reflective stickers on every cycle. The campaign was held in BMC Chowk, Nakodar Chowk, Ravidass Chowk, Milap Chowk and Workshop Chowk to make Jalandhar a safe and road safety aware city where hundreds of city residents gathered to witness such informative event.

The event started with the opening address from Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP- Traffic), B.S. Dhillon and he spoke about how safety is important. He said that if you don’t know and do not follow safety then it is a crime which could not only put you behind the bars but also could destroy one’s life. ADCP Traffic, Dhillon said, Cyclists can often be seen jostling for space with cars, buses, three-wheelers and commercial vehicle. This campaign, the force believes, will increase the visibility of cycles in the dark and save cyclists from being mowed down.

Vice Chairman of CT Group of Institutions, Harpreet Singh Channi said that the concept of pasting reflective sticker on bicycles is working with a motto to make every cyclist visible on the road at night which can possibly save their life. In India every hour 15 persons are losing their lives due to road accidents which are highest in the world and each one of us has to contribute to save lives.
