Chandigarh, April 7: The Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today asked former Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to recall who had to "cut a sorry figure in February 2007 and again in March 2012 instead of worrying about my vision for the state which you like to call "myths. I am not even counting the Lok Sabha elections of 2004 and all the civic elections held since then. When was the last time you won a major election here?"
"I am sure you have haven't forgotten the "myth you created of a Congress victory and of your being a Chief Minister after t both in the last two Vidhan Sabha elections. You had even distributed cabinet berths for a consideration, and had proudly started issuing orders to our officers as if those would be obeyed, seriously believing yourself to be the Chief Minister. This is called creating myths, inventing facts and cutting a sorry figure. On the contrary, putting huge power plants in place, getting international airports sanctioned, introducing governance reforms is called dreaming big and dreaming real for the people," said Sukhbir Singh Badal, reacting to Captain Singh's allegation that the Akali leader 'created myths and invented facts.'
Sukhbir Singh said that Captain Singh need not be so "feel good" about his errant life style as this played havouc with the state when he was the Chief Minister. "For all I care, you can fancy dress yourself as a royal but the fact is that in a democracy, you have be with the people and keep time your table to go with their convenience. That's what Parkash Singh Badal does, something you as a royal find hard to believe and even unnecessary and distasteful. But ask the people who have given him the opportunity to serve them five times, while you couldn't keep your job even once," said Sukhbir Singh Badal.
Badal said that he did seriously believe in dreaming big for his state and in working towards turning those dreams into reality. "Only cowards are afraid of dreaming big for their people. You like to dream only for yourself while I have dreams for the whole state, and have realised some of these already. If you haven't seen those dreams turned to reality, as in the power and general infrastructure sectors, I guess you really need to be shaken out of your dreams," said Sukhbir Singh Badal.
" I would also humbly like to remind you that despite your merry myth-making about your 'royal kingship', you haven't won a single major election against us in the last 12 years. But you continue to believe in your own invincibility as people have begun to mock at such attitude. This is myth-making, not what my the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal does, working shoulder to shoulder with people day and night. If you really had a wish to be in politics to serve the people, then there would be a lot you could learn from him." said Sukhbir Singh Badal
