Basant Panchmi Kite-flying Competition being held at CT Institutions, Shahpur Campus, in Jalandhar, on Tuesday.

Jalandhar, February 4, 2014: Basant Panchmi is a famous Indian festival that marks the end of the winter season and ushers in the springtime. The association of Basant Panchmi is often linked with Kite-flying, that nicknames the day as Kite festival. Continuing the trend to preserve the cultural & traditional heritage of the country, CT Group of Institutions organized Basant Panchmi Kite-flying Competition at CT Institutions Shahpur.
As many as 70 participants including faculty & staff   participated with the fullest enthusiasm. The audience & the participants wore the yellow-coloured clothes to depict the theme of the day.
Not only this, but also some other events namely Turban Tying Competition, Paranda Tying Competition, On the Spot Booliyan Competition for girls wearing Yellow Color were conducted. The judge(s) were appointed to decide which team cut the maximum number of kite(s).
Hamraj Singh, Amandeep Singh & Sukhman stood first in Kite-flying competition whereas Harjinder Singh & Harvinderpal Singh achieved first position in Turban Tying Competition. Amongst the girls Satinder  Kaur stood first in Paranda Tying Competition whereas Gurinderbir Kaur got first position in the event On the Spot Booliyan Competition.
Apart from this, Jasbir Singh, Nischal Chabra & Pankaj Arora were given the prizes for the “the Biggest Kite” & Rohit Sharma Sukhwinder Vikrant were awarded for “the Most Beautiful Kite” It was really a joyous show because every cutting of the kite was celebrated with “Thap” of “Dholak”.  
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Manoj Kumar Group Director CT Group of Institutions said, “Modern era has also made people devoid of the cultural heritage & the cultural bareness is a fatal blow.  The aim of organising this event is to link people with the cultural roots. We are to preserve the cultural heritage & legacy for the generations to come.
