A valedictory function being organised at CIPHET, Ludhiana to mark conclusion of two-day Hindi National Seminar on ‘Food Processing and Management: Opportunities for Self Employment’.
Ludhiana, January 30, 2014: A valedictory function was organised at the Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) to mark conclusion of two-day Hindi National Seminar on ‘Food Processing and Management: Opportunities for Self Employment’. Notably, more than 71 participants from across country presented their scientific papers during this seminar.
Dr Bangali Baboo, Former National Director, National Agricultural Innovation Project chaired the valedictory session. He appreciated the scientific presentations from across the country. He stressed upon the technology dissemination to the end users i.e. entrepreneurs and hoped that knowledge gained by participants and entrepreneurs from national seminar would help in their future research endeavours and employment generation. Dr R K Gupta, PC (PHT) coordinated the valedictory function and informed the participants about scientific recommendations of the technical sessions. He also said that utilizing improved food processing practices often results in reduced food losses, improved overall quality and food safety, and higher profits to growers, processors and marketers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr S.N. Jha, Acting Director, CIPHET said that food processing sector has potential to create rural industries. He also added that it is possible to evolve appropriate technologies which can establish agriculture based rural industries. The farmer whose role has been reduced to producer can be transformed into producer cum processor and thus getting more dividends from food processing practices. The entrepreneurs also shared their views regarding their venture and desired for collaborative work with CIPHET. //
