
A six-member Peer Review Team is on a three-day visit to the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana on Friday.
Ludhiana, December 6, 2013: A six-member Peer Review Team is on a three-day visit to the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) to assess, evaluate and deliberate on the organisation, governance, human resource development, academics, research, teaching, extension, co-curricular activities and financial matters of the University.
The team is led by Dr M.P. Yadav, former Director, Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly. It comprises members namely Dr S.D. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Dev Sanskriti Viswavidyalaya, Shantikunj, Haridwar; Prof. Suresh S. Honnappagol, Assistant Director General (EQR), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR); Dr R.P. Kachru, former Assistant Director General (PHT), ICAR; Dr D. Singh, former Director of Research, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar and Dr K.L. Khurana, Principal Scientist, Education Division, ICAR.
The PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon alongwith the senior officials of the University accorded a warm welcome to the Peer Review Team. Besides, Dr Dhillon highlighted the achievements of PAU.
Dr Gursharan Singh, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, and Institutional Coordinator for Accreditation, gave a brief introduction of the PAU officers and a detailed presentation on the academic programmes of the University.
During the meet, Dr P.K. Khanna, PAU Registrar, presented the Action Taken report (ATR) and gave an overview of the organization, governance, faculty and other human resources. Dr R.S. Sidhu, Comptroller, shed light on the financial matters of the University whereas Dr Balwinder Singh, Director Students’ Welfare, highlighted the counseling, placement and co-curricular activities of PAU. Besides, the deans of the constituent colleges of the University gave presentations, in which they highlighted the activities, infrastructure and expertise available in their respective colleges. Dr S.S. Gosal, Director of Research and Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education apprised the visiting team of the research and transfer of technology programmes of PAU, respectively.
Dr Ravinder Kaur Dhaliwal, Additional Director Communication, coordinated the proceedings of the meet.
The Peer Review Team visited all the four colleges of PAU; interacted with the faculty, staff and students of the University; and saw various facilities such as smart class rooms, computer labs, teaching labs, book banks/libraries, and experiential learning units.
