Shoot stopped as Karan Singh Grover and Surbhi Jyoti got mobbed in Ajmer
If the rains are playing a spoilsport in Mumbai, it was the intense heat & huge crowds in Ajmer that did not allow the cast and crew of Indian TV’s leading show, Qubol Hai to complete the shoot around the Dargah premises. Lead stars, Karan Singh Grover (Asad) and Surbhi Jyoti (Zoya) were mobbed just as they reached the main gate outside the Dargah and in minutes, the crowds increased by such large numbers that even the hundreds of security guards surrounding the stars had to put up a close and tight wall to keep fans from coming too close to their favourite actors! Hours went by with the actors not being able to move an inch without having an excited fan come over to say a few words of appreciation, ask for a hug from Karan or request for pictures! The shoot schedule was brought to a halt and the plan to shoot peacefully around the famous Dargah was not possible!
Producer and director, Gul Khan had planned that Karan and Surbhi will not only shoot in the bazaar that leads to the Dargah but also do a darshan at the shrine of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti. The show’s consistent success since its launch has made it one of the most popular shows in the Hindi GEC space. The creative team thought it would be apt to shoot the highpoint of Asad and Zoya’s declaring their love for each other at the pious dargah of Ajmer and also offer prayers of thanks for the success of the show but unfortunately, the hordes of people made it impossible for the crew to shoot there. The crew has now returned and plans to create a replica of the pious shrine in Mumbai!
The handsome and charming Karan Singh Grover said, “By God’s grace, our show is being appreciated by audiences not only in India but across the world. We took off to Rajasthan to shoot some very important sequences that were crucial to the show. Braving the scorching heat, we did manage to shoot in Jaipur and the deserts of Pushkar but our main agenda of shooting in Ajmer around the Dargah Shariff went for a toss entirely. Huge number of people chased our every step wanting to click pictures and touch us. It was berserk and scary from the point of someone getting hurt and our own security! I was worried about the ladies in the crew. People could have got hurt in this stampede. Even the security and burly bouncers were of little use. Though it’s overwhelming to know that our fans love us so much, it pains me to acknowledge that we couldn’t shoot in Ajmer as desired. Now we are planning to create a replica of the dargah in Mumbai and shoot!”
