Guruharsahai, June 19, 2013: On the call of Joint Forum, Punjab, the entire Powercom workers at Guruharsahai continued their strike for the second day today to register their protest for genuine demands, affecting the cash counter working and supply to various feeders of the area.
As per the sources, the cash counter of Powercom office remain closed causing inconvenience to the consumer for depositing their bills apart from affecting supply to various feeders.
Addressing the gate rally in front of the office, the employees’ leader Naresh Sethi, Shingar Chand and others said, the employees have proceeded on strike to register their protest for rigid attitude of the government and non-acceptance of their genuine demands. They demanded to regularize them by ending the contract system, giving jobs to families members of workers who died during service, releasing of arrears of Jan 2006 scales, giving of 23 years pay scale to all employees without any condition, mobile allowance, releasing of DA installment etc.
Giving a warning to the Punjab Government and Powercom Management and criticizing the anti-workers policy, the union leaders said, in case the demands of the workers are not met immediately, the agitation will be intensified for which the responsibility will be the government.
