FEROZEPEUR police recover 140 bags of poppy husk smuggled from Rajasthan

Truck loaded with 140 bags of poppy husk consignment brought from Rajasthan. The recovery has been made by the Narcotic Control Cell, Ferozepur.

Ferozepur, June 3, 2013: The Narcotic Control Cell, Ferozepur got a grand success with the arrest of two smugglers on recovery of 140 bags of poppy husk consignment brought from Rajasthan.

Giving this information, SSP Varinder Pal Singh informed that when the Cell’s cop Gurbhej Singh was patrolling in Arif Ke area to keep a check over the suspicious nature persons, he saw a truck, bearing No.HR-37C-3622 coming near the dry canal of Basti Ahme Wali.  On enquiry after giving a signal to stop, 140 bags of poppy husk of 35 kg each weighing 4900 kg were found.  On preliminary investigation from the truck driver, he disclosed his name as Paramjit Singh alias Pamma resident of Aadarmaan falling in Naitpur police station in Jalandhar and cleaner as Bittu of villaga Tindva in Zira in Ferozepur.  They disclosed that this consignment of poppy husk was brought from Rajasthan and further delivery was to be given to Basant Singh and Nimaa of village Tinda and Dolewala, who too have been nabbed.

He further said that a case under sections 15/25/61/85 NDPS Act has been registered and further investigation into the case has been initiated.
