Amritsar, May 27, 2013: A “21-Day Refresher Course in Punjabi Language, Literature & Culture concluded here today at the Academic Staff College of the Guru Nanak Dev University.
M.S. Hundal, Dean, Academic Affairs of the University was the Chief Guest at the valedictory session. Prof. Jaspal Singh Sandhu, Director Academic Staff College welcomed the Chief Guest and others. Prof. Raminder Kaur, Course Coordinator detailed about the refresher course.
Dr Mohan Kumar proposed the vote of thanks.
Hundal in his valedictory address talked about the challenges being faced by the vernacular languages especially Punjabi in the wake of the changing global scenario. He was of the opinion that certain changes are inevitable with the passage of time and one must accept them willingly.
Quoting a few examples, he made it clear that it is not possible to distinguish the origin of these words, which have already been thoroughly assimilated in the Punjabi Language. He said that the learning had always been a life-long process for everyone.
Raminder Kaur counseled the teacher participants to establish personal rapport with the students. She was of the view that it is absolutely essential today, especially when cultural, ethical, moral values are waning among the younger generation. She hoped that the participants would disseminate the knowledge gained by them in the course to their students.
Prof. Sandhu felicitated the participants on the successful completion of the course. He hoped that all of them must have definitely enhanced their knowledge during these days. The participants of the course profusely thanked the whole team of the Academic staff College for their whole-harted co-operation for making this course a memorable event for them. In the end, the certificates were given away to the participants by the Chief Guest.
