REACTIONS: Spot-fixing in IPL matches

Spot-fixing in Indian Premier League (IPL) matches has come to the light, in which Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth and two of his Rajasthan Royals teammates have been arrested. More arrests are expected. As per the available information, Sreesanth, Ankeet Chavan and Ajit Chandila and 11 other bookies arrested for alleged spot fixing have been sent to five-day police custody.

With this exposure, the heads of the cricket lovers are down in shame. The hearts of cricket lovers are seen broken. There is a need that the Union Government and the BCCI should ban the IPL League in the future. City Air News spoke to people from different sections of the society to get their reactions on the issue.

MANORANJAN KALIA, MLA AND MEMBER, NATIONAL EXECUTIVE, BJP:

It is really strange that why the Indian players are indulging into such activities. The BCCI should review further continuation of the IPL League. Concrete steps should be taken to check recurrence of such incidents in the future. The players should also follow ethics, sincerity and commitment towards the game.

RAHUL SETH, BUSINESSMAN:

The confidence of masses has been shattered. In view of the exposure, will the IPL cancel all the matches and review a few of the matches?

SUNIL CHOWDHARY, SPORTS DEALER:

People were expecting that the IPL-6 League is a genuine game. They were hoping that the game had a real cricket flavour. However, with the stunning exposure everything has gone on back foot.

KULDIP MAYOR, INDUSTRIALIST:

The Indian masses are stunned after the expose of match fixing during IPL-6. The exposure has really upset the cricket lovers. They are shocked to learn that the players were not playing game. Rather, they were working just for financial gains.

DIWAN CHAND MOHINDRU, ADVOCATE:  

Reality of the game has come out with the exposure of the game. People are unable to understand as to why the players are indulging into such “cheap” activities for  financial games, resulting to which they are giving shame to the country.

The exposure of match fixing by the Delhi Police really needs appreciation. People had never expected such a thing.
